Has Governor Kasich been swindled by BigWind? If so, how?

Utility lawyer Howard Petricoff was selected by Governor Kasich to become a PUCO Commissioner. We were disappointed in the Governor’s choice, as Mr. Petricoff supports renewable energy.  As noted below, Senate President Keith Faber appears to be disappointed, too. He has called for hearings into the suitability of Petricoff who has represented EverPower on behalf of the Vorys law firm. Petricoff and his firm have been involved in so many cases, it is thought he would not be able to participate in most matters coming before the PUCO due to a conflict of interest. There is also concern about Petricoff’s “past activism”.  The confirmation hearings on Petricoff’s appointment will take place in the Senate Public Utilities Committee Chaired by Senator Seitz. The Governor’s Office has started to lobby on behalf of his bad choice and the Ohio Manufacturer’s Association as well the NFIB have issued statements of support for Petricoff….

Soon after Kasich announced the appointment Thursday, Ohio Senate President Keith Faber called for hearings into Howard Petricoff, questioning the Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease LLP attorney’s “past activism.”…
